Oh no I did the thing again!

This week I've been reflecting on what it means to show up consciously.

I talk about it a lot in my e-book, top five stress-busting tips for urban misfits. You can grab a copy here if you haven't already.

Late to the party here, but I bought some fancy earbuds recently and it made me wonder how on earth I've existed in a city (or more specifically on public transport) for this long without noise-cancelling tech.

It's amazing stuff. One click and the traffic noise is gone!

I'm ambling around town fully immersed in my fave podcast - My Therapist Ghosted Me. It's bloody HILARIOUS. Seriously get on it if you haven't already.

But then it dawned on me. I've become that guy.

Every time I leave the house, I'm shutting down the outside world to exist in a once removed, parallel universe of sensory removal.

Worse still, I'm speaking to service staff with someone else rabbiting my ear. When did this behaviour suddenly become ok? (Clue: never.)

Just don't ask me about my faux pas in the pharmacy when I couldn't turn the damn things off (really really don't - major slip up).

So I'm back here again, reassessing my relationship with tech. That insidious thing in our pockets that mutates by the year, seemingly desperate to steal our attention and focus.

I just purchased the audio book - Johann Hari's 'Stolen Focus'. I know, another opportunity to retreat to my earbuds - the irony is not lost . It's supposed to be an eye opener, so I'll let you know how I get on.

Meanwhile, here's that freebie e-book if you want it.
