Just wow - what a week eh?

This is a newsletter for misfits - so at times we'll need to tackle the difficult conversations.

It's been a tough week for the LGBT community with human rights rolled back ten years and transphobia revealed as a key campaigning strategy of the Tory party in the lead up to the 2024 election.

Watch the steam coming out of my ears in my morning rant!  This was pre-coffee too so I must've meant it.

You may have spotted the proposed changes to the equality act that could see trans people excluded from same sex spaces.

The latest media furore is focusing on whether trans people should be permitted to use public loos.

Who is going to check femininity or genitalia at the door? Noone.

Who will experience bullying and intimidation? Everyone (CIS women included).

This dehumanises trans people in an era when we desperately need to be focusing the conversation on family rejection, bullying, homelessness and unemployment.

 Perspectives

Trans people make up 0.5% of the population.

84% of trans young people have self harmed.

45% of trans young people have attempted suicide at least once.

If you're a trans person who has been affected by this news and are in need of support, or space to breathe, get in touch to book a free session.

How can I support trans people?
